ZGL is the compressed variant of XGL, an archaic vector format storing 3D images and compatible with several types of computer-aided design programs. Both formats were created in the 1990s by developer RealityWave, later on acquired by AVEVA, for use on 3D graphics applications such as Solid Edge and AVEVA PDMS. ZGL files contain compressed 3D data and use the XML OpenGL application programming interface (API) format.
